💳Chase Credit Card: 5/24 rule explained

what’s up Travel hacking Buddhas today
I’m gonna teach you everything there is to know about the chase 5/24 rule
what cards are affected what cards are not affected and when and when not to
apply to them all right hello again Buddhas welcome
back today we are talking about the chase 5/24 rule this is a
hard rule so that means no matter how many times you call reconsideration no
matter what you do you will not get past this Chase 5/24 rule
there’s others you’ve probably heard of called the chase 2 + 30 rule or for
business cards the 1 in 30 rule but no matter what with this 5/24 no matter
how many times you call screaming and crying you will not get past this which
it sucks I know but it’s something you have to live with and you just move on
ok this rule is pretty straightforward it’s just states that Chase will not
allow you to open new super cards if you have opened 5 credit card accounts of
any type from any bank that’s chase that’s American Express Discover
anything you can think of if you have opened 5 new credit card accounts in the
last 24 months you will not get approved for these certain super cards that Chase
deems is their most important cards taste does is because they don’t want
people going through opening all these new cards and then cancelling them right
away because a lot of people do do that ok the last aspect of the chase 5/24
rule are business cards business cards are important because there are some
super business cards that are affected by the chase 5/24 rule but business
cards do not count toward the chase 5 and 24 rule ok let me repeat that
one more time so there are certain cards that are affected by the 5/24 rull
meaning that you cannot get these cards if you have 5 new accounts in the last
24 months but business cards do not count toward that so you can get as many
Amex business cards as you want you can get as many chase business cards as you
want you can get as many business cards as you want and they will not count
toward that chase 5 and 24 so even if you have 20 new business cards you can
still go get five of these chase personal cards that they deem as they’re
super cards all right now I’m gonna jump in and I’m gonna show you all of their
cards and what category they fall under whether they are personal business and a
to buy are not affected by the chase by the 24 but before we do that if you

I’m going to explain this for you got my trackpad here so we can draw
quickly for you no all right so you got chase which is a bank Chase is gonna
split up into four different departments and that’s gonna be personal cards that
are affected by five and twenty four personal cars that are not affected by
five and twenty four first business cards that are affected by the 5/24
and finally the business cards that are not affected by the five and twenty four
all right so we’re gonna start off the first one that is affected by five and
twenty four for personal cards is the freedom next you have your freedom
unlimited followed by the sapphire nope asleep okay and then both Sapphire cards
the preferred and on the Sapphire Reserve okay now you have Southwest both
of these cards the plus and the premiere are gonna be affected by five and twenty
four and then after that we come to the United cards for the international
travellers out there all three of those are gonna be affected by the five and
twenty four and then last but not least the Marriott Rewards card okay next we
have the personal cards these are not affect about five and twenty four so you
can get as many of these as you want after you hit that five of twenty-four
first of all this is British Airways there’s two other cards that aren’t
obvious points I think one’s the Iberia and the others Aer Lingus neither of
those are affected by the five and twenty four rule and then you have the
Star Wars card after that for you out there the Disney card and then my
personal favorite of the ones that are not affected by 524 the ritz-carlton
followed by IHG which is a good hotel credit card they do Holiday Inns and
other hotels like that Hyatt is also a great hotel credit card and it’s not
affected by five of 24 then you know the Amazon card and finally the AARP card
okay next we’re doing business that is affected by five and twenty four
remember again these are going to be affected by five and twenty four but
they do not count toward the five twenty four okay all three of your inc cards
are going to be affected by five and twenty four the preferred the cash and
the unlimited after that we have the Southwest business card this is
effective at five and twenty four but again these business ones do not count
towards it finally the United business card is but there’s two of them actually
and they are both affected by five twenty four and last you have the
business cards that are not affected by five and twenty four you only have one
choice and that’s the Marriot okay alright thank you for watching that
