5 Biblical Financial Principles Every Christian Should Know!

All right, in this video we’re going
to talk about five Bible verses about money that I think every Christian should know. These are five that have had deep impact in
my life and I pray that they have the same in yours as well, and if we haven’t met, my
name is Bob Lotich, you know, in this channel we help give you practical tips and strategies on how to put more money in your pocket and we also talk about biblical principles on
how to handle it. And so that’s something that interests you. You can hit the subscribe button, we’d love
to be friends. You can also hit that little bell if you want
to get notifications from us as well. And as we’re going through this, I’d love
to get comments from you down below. I’d love to hear what you agree with, what
you don’t agree with, any Bible verses that I missed or that you think should be on this
list. All that would be super helpful if can
dump that down in the comments down below. So as we’re going through is versus this is
not a condemnation thing, is not the goal of this, it’s just to educate us all and gets
more familiar with what God’s word says about money so that we can get more in align with that. We’re all works in progress, we’re all growing in our faith and we’re all growing in this journey, so just let it be that. Let it be an encouragement that hopefully
can guide you and direct you just a little bit, but definitely not a guilt or condemnation thing. And if you are struggling in a particular
area, I recommend the prey and submitted to God and ask him for help. That’s what he’s there for. And with that, I think it’s time to dive in
and get started. All right, so the first one is: 1 Timothy 6:10, and it says, for the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people eager for money have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. And this is diversity here, ms dot quoted
all the time where people say money is the root of all evil. It’s not money that is the root of all evil
is the love of money that is a root of all evil, and that is a big distinction because
money in and of itself is just a tool. It is not evil. It’s not righteous, but it can be used for
both purposes. Just like a hammer can be used to build or
can be used to harm. It’s no different money falls in that same
category. So another interesting thing about this is
you’re not off the hook if you don’t have money. So I used to kind of think that if I
didn’t have a lot of money that that meant that I didn’t love money. But the truth is that the love of money has
nothing to do with how much money is in your bank account. So just because you have millions of dollars in your bank account doesn’t mean that you love money. And on the other hand, even if you only have $15 in your account, that doesn’t prove that you don’t love money either. So it’s independent of the amount of money we have and it’s more our attitude and our heart towards money. So if you’re trying to find out if this is
an area that you can grow, and here are a few questions that you can ask yourself, does my pursuit of money interfere with obeying God? Do I always look for something that will benefit me financially regardless of how it affects others when it comes to helping others? Am I more concerned with what my cost
will be instead of allowing myself to be moved by compassion? So in this verse, Paul makes a really bold
statement about our attitude towards money. Notice the vivid language that he uses here
through this craving. Some have pierced themselves with many griefs and have wandered from the faith. And essentially what he’s saying here is that this craving for more and more will ultimately lead us to destruction. So like I said in the beginning, this is one
of those areas that we all probably have room to grow in. So let’s let God guide us and challenge us
and just kind of lead us into that change that he wants to make in our hearts. All right. #2 is: Malakai 3:10, and it says, bring
the whole tithe into the storehouse that there may be food in my house, test me in this as
the Lord Almighty and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it. I’ve written extensively about this
on my blog so you can check out the article down below if you want to kind of dive in
and if you want to get in on the debate, because this is a heavily debated topic, but the bottom line is is that we cannot go wrong giving. So my encouragement to you would be to continue
growing in your giving an always stretching it beyond. So the tithing thing is not a half two thing,
but it’s good to. It’s an opportunity that we have to kind of
step out in faith with God and watch him do something really special. I personally believe that we’ve been redeemed
from the curse of the law, that Jesus bore that curse for us and therefore we are not
cursed if we don’t tied, but I do think there’s a blessing available to those of us who continue
to step out and generosity and continue to press are giving. One of my personal favorite verses about
this is luke 6:38 where it says give and it shall be given unto you. Good measure. Press down, shaking together, running over
shall men give unto your bosom. And I think it’s in proverbs, ecclesiastes,
these where it says that he who waters will himself be watered and there are just so many Bible verses that talks specifically about the benefits of giving and there’s just no
denying that we cannot out give God the ultimate giver to us. So #3 on the list is: Acts 20:35 And it says in everything I did, I showed
you that by this kind of hard work, we must help the weak remembering the words of the Lord Jesus himself. That it is more blessed to give than to receive. So this one ties nicely into the previous
one and essentially are giving changes us. It changes the world and here are a
few ways how so? Number one, it provides resources for kingdom growth. So evangelists, preachers, ministries, organizations who are helping and serving the world, they all need finances to fund what they are doing. So Paul, who is actively working as a missionary said this to the Church of Philippi. In all my prayers for all of you, I always
pray with joy because of your partnership in the Gospel from the first day until now,
I had. Number two is that we bring light and joy
into the world by our generosity. So when we invest in our own possessions,
there’s often very little emotional return for that investment. However, when we invest in the lives of others, the return on investment is a tremendous amount of joy that we get from giving and benefiting someone else’s life. You know, so we’re spreading joy to the people who are getting the gift. But we’re also receiving joy. Number three is that our giving helps us fulfill the two greatest commandments. So forgiving is motivated by the love of God
and the love of mankind. It fulfills the greatest commandment to love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul and all your mind. And then to love your neighbor as yourself. So kind of wrapping this point up, I think
it’s really important to remember that Jesus himself said it is more blessed to give than
to receive. And if we think seriously about what that
means, we should be excited when we’re giving. It should be fun and it should be something
that we’re chasing after and wanting to do more of because there’s a blessing attached to it. All right. #4 is: Proverbs 22:7 and it says
that the rich rule over the poor and the borrower is slave to the lender. So we were slaves to sin and Jesus came
to set us free. So if he wanted to set us free in that one
area, I don’t know why he would want us to be in bondage and another area with our debt. So whether you have your required depth through your own mistakes or circumstances beyond your control. I believe that God wants to see his children
living debt free lives, and the good news is that God wants to help us become debt free. I’ve seen this over and over again. I’ve talked to countless readers and students who have been on their journey to get out of debt and as they have taken steps forward in faith with God to pay off their debt. I have seen miraculous things happen one after another after another in almost every time people say it just happened. It got paid off a lot faster than I thought. So they had a plan where it’s like,
our debt will be paid off in three or four years and now it seems to happen all the time. It’s like God just kind of swoops in and just
helps add some wind beneath your wings and move things along faster than you expect. And I think it’s because it’s something that
he wants for us. Uh, so the thought of being debt free is really fun and exciting, isn’t it? But there’s actually a deeper purpose behind it. So as stewards of God’s money, and you can read about this in the parable of the talents as stewards, like we’re required to use this
money wisely and to make the most of it in when we’re paying hundreds of dollars in interest on credit cards or whatever else it is, that’s money that could be used for a better purpose. So if you’re in debt and you want to get out,
and this is helping you kind of get inspired and pushed you over the edge a little bit. We’ve written about this extensively
on our site and so I have a link down below. We have a monster guide that we created that will help you kind of walked through the process of paying off all your debt. All right. #5 is one of my favorites… It’s Philippians 4:19, and it says that
my God will supply all your need according to his riches and glory by Christ Jesus. And if you’ve been around at all on this earth, you probably know that putting your trust in anything other than God is just kind of
silly. If we’re trusting the economy, if we’re trusting in our job, if we’re trusted in our bank account, all of those are places that we should not
be placing our trust and that are shaky ground that are going to let us down at some point. On the other hand, God is always faithful
and he will always be there and he will always provide for us. So I hope these verses have been a blessing to you and if you’re interested in memorizing these verses, we have a free pdf with all
five of them listed on there that you can print off, can put on your fridge and you
can just look at them day after day to just kind of memorize them. And if this was helpful to you at all, I would
appreciate it. If you could give us a thumbs up, down below. And like I mentioned at the beginning on this channel, we can be practical tips and strategies and put more money in your pocket. And then we also talk about biblical principles on how to handle it. So if that interests you definitely hit the
subscribe button so you can hear from us as we create more content. But that is all for today. So I hope you have an awesome rest of the
day. Take care.

  • Nice video thanks for posting. The statement says "Essentially, these are 5 Bible Verses about money…"

You cited Malachi 3:10. Malachi 3:10 is not for new testament saints, nor is it about money. When we read Malachi chapter 2 verse 1 we see that God is about to give a commandment to old testament priests, not new testament saints.

”Malachi 2:1 KJV And now, O ye priests, this commandment is for you.”

When we read all the way through chapter 2 and well into chapter 3 we do not see a commandment that requires someone to physically do something until we reach chapter 3 verse 10.

”Malachi 3:10 KJV Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.”

So, God is commanding old testament priests to bring the tithes into the storehouse. The storehouse was not a new testament church. It was a literal storage room on the temple grounds in Jerusalem, much like a modern day grainery for storing food.

The tithes in Malachi 3 was not money but food that the priests lived off of as they served out there weekly courses in the temple.

Nehemiah chapter 13 calls the storehouse a “great chamber” that was used to store the tithes which was food (corn, wine and oil).

”Nehemiah 13:5 KJV And he had prepared for him a great chamber, where aforetime they laid the meat offerings, the frankincense, and the vessels, and the tithes of the corn, the new wine, and the oil, which was commanded to be given to the Levites, and the singers, and the porters; and the offerings of the priests.”

  • I loved this! It was like God sent him to talk to me today. I'm so glad that when i

the yahoo cannel. Thank you and God bless you

  • Thanks Bob for the awesome video.

Hanna and I have been struggling with tithing since we dont have a home church right now. We feel lead to tithe but struggle to find where and how.

    Enjoying the videos man.

  • This is so refreshing I have been sorting out the way of God and the law of attraction find that there are some serious weeds in the source content that philosophy. A deeper dive Beyond science of getting rich, Think and grow rich and the secret you will find the source to be theosophy, Witchcraft & Lucifer based spiritual practices like Hermès & Thoth .

The key principle has to do with the identity of God & man.
If you go with Jesus then we understand our need for blood covenant and that our inheritance as children of God is not earned it is given as a gift and as we lay down our will and our power we are given the Spirit of God in exchange for human spirit and we are new creatures. That’s what Jesus talked about when he said you must be born of spirit you must be born again in order to enter into this kingdom of God it is not our birthright it is a gift of God.

If you follow The source behind the philosophy of law of attraction you will be taught that God is nonobjective undifferentiated formless thinking substance that bends to my thought and intention. With this philosophy my manifestation of wealth health love and happiness is up to me based on my thoughts and my feelings and I am the creator of everything I am the creator of my reality and when I am aware of being in charge of my vibration then I will line up with the vibration of money or health or whatever I want. If I spend enough time spelling out my desires and focusing my mind on a flame I can conjure the reality I desire. God is only energy like lightning or electricity and I must use it to get what I want. Do what I will is the tenant of witchcraft because there is no good and evil I decide what’s good and evil and there is no duality or morality I decide what is moral and good based on my perception and my awareness and my decision.

So you can see how easy it is to slip on this philosophy if you don’t know the whole picture. I decided to submit my mind and my will to the Lordship of Jesus Christ that’s the spirit I want directing my results.

In Jesus Christ everything has been paid for but with the law of attraction principal you must earn it and you will pay later for anything you obtained for free and most likely it will be with your life.

  • Love this video. Excellent reminders of how to keep God in the front of our minds and all other things (especially money) come behind Him.

  • Regarding a tithe, there were actually 3 annual tithes and another that took place every 3 years. So, really the whole command was 33.3% of your income. See, a tithe in the Old Testament was basically a tax. Israel was under a theocratic government and these tithes (or taxes) were for the upkeep of things like the temple and to provide for the priests who offered the sacrifices. Christians are not under these commands as Jesus is now our perfect, once-for-all sacrifice and he is our great high priest. The command for Christian giving is simply to give generously from the heart. See the example of the poor woman who gave all that she had, she gave our of her poverty, when the Jewish religious leaders gave out of their abundance. Jesus said she gave more than all of them because it was from her heart. That is the key. Jesus doesn't want us to give out of compulsion or to simply check a box saying we gave. No, he wants us to be generous and give whatever we desire in our hearts.

  • I find it interesting how people use the bible verses out of context to justify their sins as a means of acceptance. Money is not what we should be seeking, period. If a true believer wants to prosper, Jesus refers to that in a specific way and he does not mean material things here on this earth, instead he is referring to the treasures of the next world. God will not help you get money, don't believe in this crap. Why would he help someone equally as faithful get an opportunity to make money but won't heal the sick or free the wrongfully accused? His aim is to divide the world with a sword,(and yes this is in the bible) and create division not bring peace. A division that shows who his faithful truly are. And if there are any, they'll drop everything (including their seeking prosperity) and pick up the cross and follow him! While he doesn't condemn someone to make a profit, remember this, it is much easier for a rich man to pass through the eye of a needle then it will be for him to get into heaven.

  • Loved the part about debt, it's so true since my wife and I decided we want to clear debt cause god doesn't want us to have debt. he has helped us immensely still a couple of years to go but we haven't borrowed or used a credit card now for anything for about 9 months. Subscribed and glad I found your channel god bless!

  • This is interesting, I have wanted to look into this site before. The detail of the user test Is very useful. Thank you for sharing God Bless. Judith

  • Great Bible verses about money, wealth and riches in the Kingdom. You've kept it simple and precise! Create part 2,3,4,5,6…. of this and am sure you will have reached out to many! Amen!

  • I do not disagree with GIVING, if we have Love, then, we must Give, But to use the word “TITHING” is irrelevant to the CHURCH today. A Tithe is a Law & Mandatory 10% Only to the JEWS . Regardless if they wanted to or not.. In contrast, 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 is what is Commanded to the Church today. To “GIVE” and not to Tithe. GIVING out of the HEART’s Purpose, not Grudgingly or of compulsion or Necessity, for God Loves a Cheerful GIVER…Not anymore a Tither…The word TITHE should no longer be used in the Church..Rather, it must be “GIVING”…In Verse 6 there is No amount of Percentage mentioned..It is tthe ATTITUDE of the HEART that matters…Shalom!

  • I am worried i have items that i want to sell then take the currency i receive and give it to God is that the same as given because the items i have couldn't help multiple people but if i sell the items that i have the currency could feed or clothed multiple people

  • Really appreciate your sharing these Bible Verses! Praying for success in all you do. God bless you! I also enjoyed your easy how to list things on eBay. I am going to try to do that starting tomorrow. I need a job, and if this works for me, it will be a great blessing! Thanks!!!

  • This video is incredibly empowering, enriching and enlightening. Hearing your take on the LOVE of money being evil as opposed to the amount of money was so eye opening. You’re right you could be guilty of this whether you were poor or rich.

I’ve never cared about money before but I’m about to get married and become a “real” adult and I’ve been very stressed about it recently. Suddenly I started falling into “love of money” territory and this video snapped me back to reality. Thank you so much Bob.

  • Tithing is a have to thing! If you don't tithe, you rob God. 10% from every single paycheck you get, should go to God.
Kids don't listen to this guy.

  • Timeless wisdom. Thanks, man. I focused on clearing a massive debt. Looking forward to how He might use this to help others. 🙏

  • My husband and I seem to be bound with our money. Can you please give us advice in one particular area? We have been married for four years and are in our early sixties. In order to clear all our debt we sold our house three years ago and are living in a cheap rental property. We have given to a number of ministries we believe in about a quarter of our money which amounted to about $100k . We also continually give to five other ministries more than 10% of our income and we send money to Samoa to feed a number of very poor families.

We still have some money and have bought gold and bitcoin amounting to $250k and a motorhome which we hire out. Here’s the question: is it wrong if us to have that gold and bitcoin? Should we give it all to the kingdom? Our vision is to eventually have enough money to buy a piece of land and restore an old large house so that we can house newly saved Christian men and disciple them.

We have a problem- we seem to be unable to EARN enough money to get by every week/month and are eating into what savings we have in the bank. We really struggle with this EARNING THING. I am a part time teacher (feeling too unwell to do full time now) and my husband has his own electrical business but is struggling to get work. We are eating away at the money we need to eventually see our vision come to pass and it is very disheartening. We are hard workers but we see no fruit of our labours. We are really seeking God now to find out how to stop the rot. Is it wrong for us to have savings? My main concern is that I don’t want to be a burden to my children if we get sick. I feel we need some money behind us for medical and other bills we may face. I feel we are generous and always help others out financially because we want to not because we are compelled to. We would love to be able to give more and most certainly will if we can get a flow of money happening.

Two months ago we started to tithe on top of our giving and that is coming out of our savings too.

We should be earning more than enough money between us but it seems to be impossible. I have been unwell for four months unable to work. It certainly has given me more time to pray, Praise the Lord. Even when John gets work it’s just not enough to meet our expenses.

Do you think we could be under a freemasonry curse? – we both have freemasonry in our families.

I have just found your YouTube channel and will be listening to your videos over the next week. We are determined to get out of this and are praying and seeking God at length everyday for our health and finances because we are evangelists and just want to be free to share the gospel and disciple new believers.

Sorry for the rant. Its 2am and I’m unable to sleep because this is so heavy on my heart now.

Here is my email address [email protected] I’d love to have a conversation or communication with you about this as we’re feeling lost and can’t see a way out. Blessings

  • I love this video and watch it often. I have such a poor view of money and success (I'm afraid of it) My mom single mom is always telling me how I'm not worth anything and how bad it is to have money and how horrible people with money are. I have the opportunity to make money and really help a lot of people but I've been held down by such limiting beliefs and her constant speaking of hate into my life. It's hard to move past.

  • I thank God that I came across your channel. I am truly blessed with your contents. May God continually bless you with His wisdom and that it will overflow to us, your viewers.

  • I've been a Christian for 30 years. I like to think that I am mature in Christ. I give my tithes, offering and a special seed, weekly. My positive cash flow is only enough 2 months at a time. My husband and I are both are part-time workers, with not a lot of positive income. I live in a beautiful neighborhood, have a beautiful house, and my car is 2019. This is call, Spiritual Wealth, Amen. By the way, my Ministry is at work. I work in a hospital.

  • Unfortunately I have helped so many Christians and it turned out that they were spiritual squanders and because I did not notice it Jesus Christ have intervene in a really strong way thank you Jesus for saving me all these people. My advice to everyone is be careful and the red flag is needy people.
