Communism and Fascism

hello and welcome back I'm mr. Kennedy and today we're going to talk about communism and fascism two political doctrines that are essential to understand each gained popularity in various forms in the aftermath of World War one and played an important part in the history of the 20th century to start I'd like to give you a very simplified idea of political ideology before World War one there are two major groups liberals wanted weaker government and more economic and personal freedoms and generally preferred enlightenment and scientific explanations over traditional ones conservatives wanted to maintain order and safety within traditional forms of strong government new elites usually the industrial middle class tended towards the liberalism as did most European revolutionaries while old elites who were rapidly losing power like the former aristocracy and the church tended towards conservatism that's how things were before World War one and we have to understand that first because both communism and fascism claim to reject these ideologies but they are also in some way built from them and both of those communism and fascism gained popularity after World War one we have to start our discussion with communism and by specifying that we're talking about the political philosophy developed by this guy Karl Marx and not talking about modern countries that are called communists few if any of them actually attempt or even claim to be practicing communism most of those countries have authoritarian or totalitarian governments and even their ideology seems to me at least closer to fascism than to true communism Karl Marx's view of history was that societies started out as primitive hunters and gatherers sharing everything basically equal and then progressed through a series of stages getting in ways better and better until eventually ending in communism where everything would be pop prosperous and equal according to Marx the driver of that historical process was class struggle basically as social systems developed new groups of people these are the classes would form who didn't fit the old social system through revolution revolt war or compromise this is the struggle they would tear down the old social system and make a new one Marx argued that in the 1840s when he was writing the communist manifesto the social system was capitalism and the class struggle was between the bourgeoisie the new industrial elite and the proletariat the workers mark says that while the booze was he had political and economic power the workers because they are the only ones who actually make anything hold the true power once the proletariat realized their position and unite they will seize power and eventually create a communist state as a result Marx rejected both the liberal and conservative politics both were tied to a doomed social system that would fall with the proletarian revolution when Marx part published his manifesto in 1847 he thought the revolution was going to happen soon and that nothing could stop the march of history on its path to glorious communism he was right about the revolution the next year in 1848 people rose up across Europe but he was disappointed by the results the new Liberal government's still oppressed the workers and Marcus began to question his ideas on history and focus on economics instead but other people were not so sure and Marx's ideas remained popular after 1848 and found their way into China and Russia where two different thinkers leaders and revolutionaries Lenin and Mao adapted Marxist communism to their own purposes while Leninist and Maoist communism have significant philosophical differences with each other as well as with marxist communism it's enough for our purposes to note that they incorporated both liberal and conservative traditions first because China and Russia had not completed industrialization and did not have a true working class Lenin and Mao argued that it was possible for a group of educated leaders to carry out the revolution instead of and kind of in the place of a mass uprising they would cast down the traditional power structure and replace it with a modern one not unlike a liberal revolution second after the Revolution that same group of leaders now the ruling party would have to institute communism from the top down by developing nationalist feelings in the people they would call those nationalist feelings clash constant consciousness in other words the ruling party you should have authoritarian control over the government so somewhat conservative idea will now turn from communism to fascism which also included liberal and conservative elements but rejected communism as radical liberalism as greedy and conservatism as weak while communism had Marx one-up fascism's main founders was Benito Mussolini who completed a fascist revolution in Italy after World War one after the war the Italian economy was unstable and Italians believed that the Treaty of Versailles treated them unfairly Mussolini claimed that fascism could restore Italy to prosperity and strength fascist political doctrine was a combination of liberal and conservative ideas like many conservatives fascists supported tradition especially religion and gender roles and a strong central government with authoritarian control like many liberals however fascism supported industrial development expansionism and imperialism at the same time fascism rejected key parts of both the liberal and conservative positions instead of the economic freedom supported by liberals fascist governments controlled industry and the conservative monarchies in Germany and austria-hungary proved week in order one according to Mussolini because they failed to use the full power of their population in fact the union of the people and the state is probably at the heart of the most important concepts in fascism super nationalism militarism and expansionism by giving their labor and their faith to the state the people in a fascist government ensure their own safety secure their traditions and give strength to their nation Mussolini says the state guarantees the internal and external safety of the country so the state is it is responsible for protecting the people inside the country and protecting the country from outside outsiders but it also safeguards and transmits the spirit of the people elaborated down the ages in its language its customs its faith so not only is the state a protector but it also is the heart of the people's culture of the people's moral Center the cost however of fascism is high fascist governments have to tell tear and control of their people who then have much less freedom than under most Republican democracies in many cases that includes significant censorship political violence and oppression of dissidents and minorities Mussolini's fascism took hold in Italy in the early 1920s and his ideas spread all over Europe taking on regional variations most importantly in Germany Adolf Hitler adopted Mussolini's ideas to form the National Socialist or Nazi Party but from the 1920 gone fascist governments developed in Spain Eastern Europe and in parts of South America hopefully this video gives you a good understanding of the origins and basic beliefs of communism and fascism but that knowledge is only useful in the context of the history of twentieth century we also need to think about these questions why would political systems like fascism and communism gain popularity in the 1920s also remember that nationalism imperialism and militarism were major causes of World War one what is the relationship between those ideas and communism and fascism thank you very much and I'll see you next time

  • Fascism is as old as Rome and directly related….fascist regimes rule over the communist societies they create….the confusion is part of the strategy….

  • Well here's an even more simplified approach to both philosophies. Both are

Collectivist, the group before the individual, oh and whom ever that group is that holds power say bye to the unlucky group they hate, you know the usual. By class, race, sex, pick, hey I hear that intersectionality is making groups in record numbers, hmm wonder who will win that lotto.
Authoritarian, natzi, communist, socialist, they don't pull any punches, or think they wasted a bullet, on desenters or critics that dare speak out against the state, check ur local minder's for book burnings, and speaking event crashings, and don't speak to anyone there watching,oh and so is your family, neighbor, friend, gf, 🐕, to tell the authorities you you committed illegal,or state not approved speech.ect, exc

Anti private property 'and yes the Nazis did confiscate private industry, they just didn't kill the owners like the Communists did, nope they where made puppets of the state through regulations. Wait didn't Obama fire the CEO of GM, and put one his appointments in there? Yeeeesssss, that is 💯 fascist. And weaponize the IRS against the opposition!? Yesssss.
I got something offensive to say to the leftist, I despise socialism, communism, and fascism there all the same!!!
With love. The American right wing
Not to be confused with European right.k

  • Hitlers nationalist socialism is not the same as fascism, and Falangism is not the same nor cooperated with Fascism. Fascism and Falangism were for the superiority of stupid religion! Nationalist Socialism is a forgotten society, same goes for Fascism and Falangism in a way.

  • Here is the longer, more recent version:

  • This young man really has blurred the lines of "liberalism (regressivism)" conservatisim. To get a better understanding, with CLEAR differences watch this:

  • As an experiment I just went onto Amazon UK and entered 'T shirts with Swastikas on', and then 'T shirts with Hammer & Sickle on'. I found only one T shirt which displayed a swastika (however it was really for a punk bank with a swastika as part of the design).
But I found 15 complete pages of Hammer & Sickle T Shirts.
Both ideologies are despicable, but the Communists have had a far greater malign effect on the populations of the world. When is a true reading of history going to permeate the Universities and Schools?

  • "Fascism, communism and national socialism all share in common the explicit premise that the individual must subordinate himself to society's needs, or as Hitler would phrase it: 'Society's needs come before the individual needs.'" ~ A.E. Samaan

About the only positive merit i can think of about Fascism is it is protective of your nation against foreigners… but that isn't exclusive to Fascism. Did monarchs support mass immigration? No.
In the end Fascism is the other side of the same coin of Communism. Fascists are anti-freedom, anti private property, and anti individual rights, and anti individualist. Fascism, and Communism are both collectivism. For whoever doesn't believe me, here it is straight from Mussolini's mouth

(from urbandictionary defination of Fascism, second one down, translated from Mussolini's speech)
"…Fascism denies, in democracy, the absurd conventional untruth of political equality dressed out in the garb of collective irresponsibility, and the myth of "happiness" and indefinite progress….

…iven that the nineteenth century was the century of Socialism, of Liberalism, and of Democracy, it does not necessarily follow that the twentieth century must also be a century of Socialism, Liberalism and Democracy: political doctrines pass, but humanity remains, and it may rather be expected that this will be a century of authority…a century of Fascism. For if the nineteenth century was a century of individualism it may be expected that this will be the century of collectivism and hence the century of the State…. "

The cure for clinging to these early 20th century social experiments is to simply read history, …something modern people seem to be allergic to.

“The study of history is a powerful antidote to contemporary arrogance. It is humbling to discover how many of our glib assumptions, which seem to us novel and plausible, have been tested before, not once but many times and in innumerable guises; and discovered to be, at great human cost, wholly false. ”

    ― Paul Johnson

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not for your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands that feeds you, may your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were ever our countrymen"

    – John Adams

  • Bits and pieces of this video are wrong but it's not too bad, cultured thug's fascist philosophy video is much better though.

  • People who fear they are losing power tend toward conservatism. People who want to break free of power restrictions tend toward liberalism.

  • I think I like fascism by the sound of this. communism, no, but democracy is flawed,. expensive, and just has a lot of people making arguments and trouble, its fucked.

  • Lol Fascism oppresses minorities, restricts individual freedom and is imperialistic and militarist but Communism is not? Give me a break dude. You try to disassociate Soviet and Maoist barbarity from Communism.

  • Your definition of fascism is fairly weak. You seem to refer to totalitarianism as a harsher form of authoritarian rule too, which is completely false. I advise you to research Gentile's philosophy of totalitarianism as well as reading the Political and Social Doctrine of Fascism by Gentile and Mussolini.

  • So, when did the party ideas of liberal smaller government/conservative larger change? Is liberal here referred to as classical liberalism?

  • Really great video! All I can think is that any government can be good it all depends on the leader who is running the country. Un-lucky there was people who switched the ideology of max and used them for their own benefits or with Fascism. At the end of the day it all comes down on who the human being is and of course as humans we have greed and many more weaknesses yet we have good in us. I don’t believe in the perfect government but I do believe that we can improve. Politics is interesting just very rare to find a leader that can bring any side together.

  • Nazism was filthy and vile as is communism and left wing liberal progressive refuse. Fascism is BEAUTIFUL and Mussolini didn't stick to it when he partnered with that satanic monstrosity, Adolf Hitler.
