  • Freedom of thought and speech certainly do grant you the right to doubt, criticize and ridicule the consensus, and they should not be infringed upon. It also grants others the right to doubt, criticize and ridicule those against the consensus, which is exactly what you are complaining about. 

    These arguments are exactly the same argument made by the intelligent design movement. I notice, there is no actual attempt to convince the consensus, just a desire to convince the public that the consensus is wrong. This isn't science. Do you not think climate change scientists have considered the null hypothesis? I doubt very much that their papers would have been published if they didn't. A few hundred peer reviewed papers with evidence against the consensus, and an actual model that could be tested and make accurate predictions would probably do these guys much more justice if they wanted people to take their claims more seriously.
