German Chancellor calls for protection of freedom, human dignity, democracy on 30th anniversary


German Chancellor Angela Merkel has
called for the protection of freedom democracy human dignity and the rule of
law on the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall
speaking at the Chapel of reconciliation where the Berlin Wall once stood Merkel
said history teaches the wall that no war that causes divisions or limits
freedoms is too high to be torn down she commemorated those who were captured
or killed for trying to cross from east to west germany saying that the fight
for freedom continues today throughout the world Merkel also acknowledged the
anniversary of the night of the broken glass when Jews were Tad’s across Nazi
Germany in 1938
