Kiwami Trail Freedom : “Pour courir vite, il faut avoir les mains libres” – Jocelyne Pauly

I first contact with Kiwami was through Helene one of the co-founders of Kiwami. I found the pole carrying system invented by Kiwami to be very efficient. Personally, to be able to run with my hands free and to be able to store and remove my poles easily at any time is terrific. As the system really appealed to me and I asked Kiwami if they could adapt it to a less compressive short or skirt because I felt that was a product I needed. We made 3-4 prototypes which I tested in training and races, because race conditions can’t
really be simulated in training. When something wasn’t just right, such as a seam placement or a waist band too high or too compressive I gave feedback to Craig and Ophélie (the pattern maker). I told them whatworked well and what didn’t and they made a new prototype with those adjustments. Everything was done really quickly because the new prototype was always ready before my next race ! This is the prototype that I used in the UTMB and the Grand Raid de la Reunion. I’ve run a lot of miles and had some amazing experiences in it ! It’s one of the last prototypes made with shorter legs on the outside layer, a higher position for carrying the poles and a less compressive waist band. So there you have it, tested and validated at Chamonix and La Reunion !
