Man Utd transfer news: Juventus make secret checks on Marcus Rashford

Rashford has struggled to kick on under Jose Mourinho this season at Manchester United and has been played in a wider berth when he has started rather than as the main target man  The 21-year-old’s current contract with United runs until 2020, but there is an option to extend it by an extra year  In contrast, Rashford has been given more freedom for England under Gareth Southgate and has scored more times for the Three Lions (three) than United (two)  Mourinho even described Rashford as “sad” after his side’s 3-2 win over Newcastle last month  He said: “I cope with it with some sadness obviously and I survive, I am mature, I am a big boy  “But clearly some of the boys… Marcus [Rashford] was sad on the pitch Scott McTominay was scared and even all the players they committed mistakes that are not normal ” And now according to The Times, Juventus are weighing up a move for Rashford. The report suggests a “dossier” is being compiled as the reigning Serie A champions seek to bolster their attacking options  Discreet background checks are thought to have been made on Rashford. Juventus have also been keeping tabs on Rashford’s team-mate David de Gea  As of yet, De Gea has failed to sign a new deal and the Bianconeri are still searching for a world-class replacement for Gianluigi Buffon who joined Paris Saint-Germain last summer  Meanwhile, Paul Pogba could end up back in Turin next year. Reports have suggested he has told his former Juve team-mates he wants to re-sign for the club  The Frenchman has struggled to deliver for United on a consistent basis for United since joining the club in an £89million deal in 2016  And his problems with Mourinho have been well documented too. United return to action at home to Crystal Palace on Saturday (3pm)
