MomsRising Stands Up For Liberty & Justice, Dignity & Freedom For All

[inspiring music to accompany moms doing amazing
things] music And we’re going to the Department of Justice
to meet Jeff Sessions, and we’re going to the Senate and we’re going to be delivering
them to every member of the Senate, along with messages from our members about why diversity
and immigrants and freedom is so important to our country. The reason we’re making this delivery is to
remind them that our nation’s diversity and people caring about each other is what’s made
our country strong, innovative and prosperous, not the opposite. And as we celebrate Mother’s Day, we offer
a vision of the kind of America we want for our children. My mother is an immigrant; many of you can
say the same about yourselves, your parents, or your grandparents. Immigrants have made America strong and prosperous. We must welcome immigrants and respect immigrant
communities. So for Mother’s Day, we’re speaking out for
liberty and justice for everyone. [cheering] We want our leaders to remember
the promise of America that is written on the base of our Statue of Liberty: “Give me
your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.” We’ve come a long way as a nation together,
and we’re not turning our backs on each other or on the American dream. Thank you. [cheering]
And we’re up here this weekend marking Mother’s Day, by lifting up the stories of immigrant
moms, refugee moms, Muslim moms, because when these issues are being discussed, we need
to be talking about the personal stories of families. And would you like to give him… This is important to my family and many other
families. Here’s a storybook and a Statue of Liberty. -Thank you
Welcome. And Carmen and her family are first generation
immigrants to our country and they traveled up today from North Carolina. They wanted to
make sure that the voices of families are really heard. What do we want? Justice! When do we want it? Now!
