New Jersey Remembers 9/11


THE TENURE OF THE SITUATION TURN ON THE DIME LIKE THAT AFTER IT DID WHEN THE PRESIDENT DID SPEAK, POWERFUL MOMENT FROM GROUND ZERO. THEY WILL ALSO BE GATHERING AT THE MEMORIAL CALLED EMPTY SKY IN NEW JERSEY. CHRISTINE SLOAN IS LIVE AT LIBERTY STATE PARK WITH MORE THIS MORNING. Reporter: CHRIS AND MARY, THERE’S NO OFFICIAL CEREMONY PLANNED AT THE EMPTY SKY MEMORIAL HERE IN JERSEY CITY, BUT FAMILY MEMBERS HAVE BEEN COMING HERE PRIVATELY TO MOURN AND REMEMBER. THE MEMORIAL NAMED AFTER BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN’S SONG, EMPTY SKY, WRITTEN BASICALLY TO REMEMBER HOW WE FELT LOOKING ACROSS AT THE CITY. IT HONOR 746 NEW JERSEY RESIDENTS KILLED DURING THE TERRORIST ATTACKS ON SEPTEMBER 11th. THEIR NAMES ARE ETCH IN THE STAINLESS STEEL WALLS, AND WE HAVE SEEN SOME PEOPLE COME BY HERE EARLY THIS MORNING, INCLUDING A VETERANS GROUP. WHAT WE ARE GOING TO BE DOING IS RUNNING 11 MILES. WE CALL IT 11 ON THE 11, AND THIS IS THE 9/11 REMEMBRANCE RUN. TO REMEMBER THAT, I THINK IT’S CRITICALLY IMPORTANT FOR THE AMERICANS TO REMEMBER THAT DAY.
